If I Could Sing I Would Sing A Song for the Black Woman
This is a song without the melody...a love song, a blues song, a rap song, a gospel. It is a book that is for, about, and to the melaninated women of the Earth. It is composed of poetry and love letters that describe one man's growth process in learning how to love a Black woman in a healthy way. The words convey the awe, appreciation, fear, enjoyment, confusion, amazement, guilt and a host of other feelings that men experience when loving Black women. It is part edification, part accusation, part apology, and part hymnal. It is an offering in the ongoing work that it takes to bring the Black woman and man back into a functional, loving whole.
